Quiet Moments

For LL in the UK

I often wonder, LL, what you reflect upon in your quieter moments. Those times like just after you switch the light out at bedtime and your thoughts wander.

Do you imagine how life might have been, had you not strayed, but stayed ... and not made the wrong decision? Dreams of the life you might have had perhaps float through your mind in those moments. The security of wealth that you will never, know and the material things it brings. Do you dream of them?

I loved you dearly until you betrayed my trust. Do you think on that lost love? The care and attention, I gave you, my thoughtfulness and the physical benefits I brought to you. I wonder also if you reflect on the life I lead and the life you might have shared; instead of what you have settled for. There is a sliver of my spirit that holds a small part of you. Once you filled my heart, but not any more. It drained more quickly than it filled. You in that sliver LL, but it is such a small part of my memory that it is like one of those old photos that gradually lose their color.

I have no doubt that you wonder what life might have been like when you reflect on things in those quiet moments of your life. You are sort of settled with a guy who is quite gross physically, although he must have some good points or you wouldn't have stayed. It had a bad point in the first few years, involving another woman but she has probably disappeared from the scene by now. However, she was younger than you, so who knows...

As you continue in this settled life ( I think of it more as a rut that you are in) posting your inevitable shots of food on social media,a soccer widow at weekends and the repetitive holidays, I hope you don't get too upset when you glance at the life I am leading, and have led since you went your way.

I've had quite an interesting few months in Europe and by that I really do mean interesting, if you follow my drift. An exciting life, not a boring one by any stretch of the imagination. Since I returned here to the ranch I have taken time out to relax before Fall arrives. I will be back in Europe for a short while next month as i Have a date with a lady at my place on Skyros. I guess we will laze on the boat and undertake a few other activities.

On the materialistic front, I've just taken delivery of three new cars in two different locations. I'm retired now but attend, as much as possible, monthly board meetings of my parent company and still do the occasional deal. Income wise - well I think your eyeballs would drop out if you knew what that was LL.

Going for a ride shortly - no not that sort of ride - a horse ride, so you have a nice day ma'am and reflect on your poor decision making and bad choices. I tried to guide you in the best direction but you paid no attention. Sad really, but we all move on, some more than others.
