Short Update

It's a strange world LL. Here I am approaching another milestone birthday, having lost my second wife to death's clutches. That is the reason I have posted very little since January. so now I find myself widowed for a second time.

Life must go on, but I will not be seeking a third wife at this stage in my life. However, I have many friends, here in the States and overseas, around the world, so I won't be found wanting for company etc LL.

I plan to go back to photography much more, rather like I did ten years ago. That activity had been wound down a lot over the years, as I devoted more time to writing novels. Now, here I am with all these homes, a much expanded family, two planes and a helicopter and three boats (well one is a yacht - the big motorised kind), so I am sure I will find more than enough to occupy myself.

I saw the both of you. Not saying where or when, but I'd forgotten how short he is. I would guess around five two and you, well you have grown horizontally to meet him halfway in the weight stakes. No wonder neither of you can walk more than a few miles. Whatever happened to that slim woman I knew??!! I guess she inflated. Too much inflation is a bad thing, and that comes from a qualified economist!

Life is funny in so many ways. You had the chance of a lifetime and turned it aside. Choosing instead a man whose vacations contain mainly food and soccer...even your latest one. No exploration, no expanding your horizons, no enjoying the good things in life. If you think you are, then you are sadly mistaken.

Whereas the man you couldn't commit to - well I think what I have drawn to your attention over the years speaks for itself...don't you?!

I will be in England soon...fancy a coffee? 😁

Long Road Home

For LL

After all the years you could have travelled far and wide, I guess it is pleasing to be able to see just one small corner of Australia and a little of Arabia. I have friends (Arabs) in UAE, Dubai, Bahrein, Oman and Saudi where my friends are in Riyadh. So you are catching up with me just a little and many years late.

Perth and the area to the south around Margaret River is very nice, but so is Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Cairns I love, maybe because it is small and the rainforests etc are more my scene. Of the countries in the Gulf (the Persian one not the Mexican one!), Oman is probably my favorite.

You still have a way to go though on the travel front, and maybe not enough years to catch me up....heigh ho, as someone used to say.

By the way, guess which hotel I stay in in Dubai. No, on second thoughts don't guess I'll tell you - Burj Al Arab - ever stayed in a 7 star? I think not.

My latest grandson is doing well at one week old and the next youngest is now on the verge of full on speech at nearly 22 months. I'm impressed and he's a real character to boot.

You will probably be arriving back in Glasgow by the time you read this. Incidentally I hear your favorite airline is cutting flights departing there, from around 23 destinations to 3. You may have to find another place....

My favorite airline is....mine the 650.

Antipodean Thoughts

For LL

I would suggest that your visit to the western shores of that country I have been visiting (for ten years), have a home in and a passport for, has more to do with soccer than anything.

I told you that March wasn't the best time to visit as it is hot, hot, hot! I guess you had already made arrangements though. You should listen to someone who knows these things, someone who you made completely the wrong decision about. Instead you chose that arrogant SOB. Your choice but you have to live with your choices.

I see his clothes are 'tailored' - they fit where they touch! How in heaven's name you ended up with him beats me. At least your clothes are loose enough to hide your not inconsiderable bulk these days. I have no idea what happened to the slim woman I knew. I weigh in at a healthy 176 pounds or 12 stone 8 pounds in your 'money'. Not a lot different from 2005. I have probably lost a bit more these last few months due to Ash's untimely death.

Strange thing is I will end up being even wealthier now, although I would trade that to have her back. You probably in fact you definitely have no idea how wealthy I am. Well LL, it is very, very considerable in its extent; beyond anything you could ever dream of and beyond what you might win on the US Lottery!

I have in past flaunted a little to ground into your psyche, the mistake you made. Cars are two a penny. I change them frequently. Whether they are Bentleys, Aston Martins or just a work horse like my Jeep Grand Cherokees.  Add to those several Beamers (BMWs) and an S Class Merc and that will give you an idea. Of course I have the Gulfstream 650, too along with a twin engine turboprop down in Florida that I fly for fun.

My latest acquisition is an Airbus H130. I'll leave you to look it up LL. Why? Because it is far more convenient than driving and I can get to some less accessible places easily.

Come April I will be on my travels, sadly without Ash, but will probably start in Europe where I have a number of homes as you know.

I think that's enough for you to swallow on what is probably your one and only trip there. In fact, in my case, Jon has already booked flights for me, from Hawaii to Brisbane for later this year. The eleventh year of visits.

Ciao...for now
