You are probably very excited at the prospect of your holiday 'down under'. However, be warned there are snakes that are very deadly and spiders of the same ilk.
No idea where you are visiting but here are a few tips:
- The speed limit is the (absolute) limit. Go over it and expect a fine
- There are cameras on most bridges, with no warning they are there
- Booze is more expensive than the UK (and a lot more than here in the US)
- Most, but not all, snakes are venomous
- Most spiders are venomous
- If going to the northern parts of Queensland (up around Cairns etc) beware of crocs. They are of the saltwater variety, so you can expect them in the sea and fresh water.
- There are sharks in the sea and stingers (jellyfish) which are real nasty
- New South Wales is one hour ahead of Queensland
I expect you will visit maybe Perth or Sydney, but Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts are better, as is Melbourne. As I have intimated before, my visits have taken me there every year since 2007, and including this year, but much later. You could both borrow my penthouse on the Gold Coast, but then again maybe not.👎😉. There's also a brand new Range Rover with a refrigerator sitting close to Brisbane...but again would I share it - don't think so, do you.
It takes about 22 hours flying time, in all, from the UK, so a long, long journey. I have usually flown from Hawaii only about 9-10 hours, but then I have a home on Oahu, only 5 hours from LA, and my own plane - the Gulfstream 650.
You probably haven't the time to visit New Zealand as well but you should...sometime. It's another 3 hours flying time from Sydney as is Cairns in Northern Queensland.
A selection of photos below - enjoy!!!
I am presently in Boston, Mass., with friends. Not sure where I will go from here having sadly lost Ash some eight weeks ago to unforeseen illness, but I have some plans in mind. Travel is one, of course, picking up my photography again is another and I have three boats to lose myself on, apart from business matters. The boats are in Florida, here in New England and the biggest in the Med.
